Providing mail service

If you installed AppleShare IP and set up the Mail Server following the instructions in the "Getting Started" manual, you set up the Mail Server as the only provider of mail service on your network, and you turned on mail service for the users you had registered at that time.

To provide mail service, you need to start the Mail Server and turn on mail for any users created since you set up the server. You also need to determine how you'd prefer to manage the Mail Administrator's account.

If you need help deciding how to organize your mail service, or if you plan to run the AppleShare IP Mail Server on more than one computer, you may want to review how mail service works.

    This section tells you

      How mail service works
How mail service works on single or multiple computers, mail protocols, mail servers, and DNS
How to start and stop the Mail Server
    Manually or automatically
How to enable and disable mail service
For registered users connecting to the current server
How to manage the Mail Administrator's account
Enabling or forwarding mail, enabling or disabling IMAP Administrator Access, and using "postmaster"
