Users access your Web site by typing the URL (Uniform Resource Locator) of your Web Server into the Web browser application. You can control access to your Web site by turning Web service and guest access on and off, and by changing the access privileges assigned to the Web site's folder or the folders it contains. Enabling or disabling Web services | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
By default, Web service and guest access are turned on. You can turn Web service on or off to allow or deny users access to your Web site. You can also turn guest access on or off. The Web service and guest access settings you define apply to all Web sites on your server. If you haven't changed the default Web settings since you installed AppleShare IP, then users logging on to the Web Server will see the default home page (named Default.html) in the folder named Web Folder on your server's startup disk. Visiting your Web site | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
To visit your Web site, users type the Web & File Server's URL into a Web browser program. The URL consists of the Web & File Server's DNS name or IP address, preceded by the "http://" tag. When the URL is entered into a browser program, your home page appears. To visit the Web site, follow these steps:
