General AppleShare IP troubleshooting–problems with logging onto Remote Admin

Make sure you've done the following:
started the Web & File Server on your server computer
    enabled Web service
selected “Allow remote administration via a Web browser”
entered the correct URL into your Web browser program (http://<your Web Server's DNS name>/.admin)
Note: You can find your Web Server's DNS name in AppleShare IP Manager by choosing Show Network Info from the Manager menu.

For more information on the steps above, see the "Getting Started" manual or "Upgrading" document that came with your software.

Make sure you've enabled your Web Server plug-ins in the Web & File Server Settings window in the Web & File Admin program. Also, make sure you haven't set up TCP Filter to restrict access to Remote Administration from your computer's IP address (see TCP Filter in AppleShare IP Help).

Try quitting your browser program, then open it again and enter the URL for AppleShare IP Remote Admin.

If you see a "404" message, reinstall the Remote Administration on your server.

If you see a "500" message, you don't have enough memory to use Remote Admin. Try quitting other applications.

If you see a "504" error message, there may be a network configuration error. Try disabling any proxies in your browser and try again.

If you see an error message with no number, check the URL and try again.

If you are receiving proxy time-out errors when trying to make changes in AppleShare IP Remote Administration, ask your proxy server administrator to allow Write access for your AppleShare IP Web Server on port 311. If this is not possible, then disable any proxies in your browser and select the option to connect directly to the Internet.
