Stopping the server |
|
|
|
|
|
You may need to stop the AppleShare IP Web & File Server to perform
tasks, such as to enabling changes you've made. Make sure you
warn users when you stop the server.
IMPORTANT: If you stop the server, you will no longer be able to use AppleShare
IP Remote Admin. You'll need to go to the local server to start
the Web & File Server again.
To stop the Web & File Server, follow these steps:
1 |
Log on to AppleShare IP Remote Admin. |
2 |
In the Status window, click the Stop Web & File Server button. |
3 |
In the Default Shutdown Message section, type the number of minutes
that will elapse before the Web & File Server stops. |
|
You can enter any number from 0 to 4094 minutes (about 68 hours).
|
4 |
If you like, enter a message in the Additional Message box. |
|
Note: Some non-Mac OS users, FTP users, and Web site visitors cannot
receive messages. |
5 |
Click the Shutdown button. |
|
Users who are logged on and who can receive messages see the default
message that the Web & File Server is shutting down in the specified
number of minutes, plus any additional message you type. |
|
The shutdown warning is repeated once every hour until the final
hour, every ten minutes during the final hour, then every five
minutes, two minutes, and one minute before the Web & File Server
stops. |
|
Note: Users can't log on to the Web & File Server during the final
five minutes, but they can visit your Web site. |

|
Users who are logged on and can receive messages will see the
default message that they will be disconnected in the time you
specified, plus any additional message you type. |
|
Note: Some non-Mac OS and FTP users cannot receive any messages. |
5 |
Click the Disconnect button. |
|
If you specified a number of minutes before disconnection, a scissors
